Carlos Condit’s manager Malki Kawa looks at the names of possible welterweight opponents and keeps landing on one name in particular. Kawa wants to see Condit have a rematch with Nick Diaz.
“I can tell you one I’d like to see again is him and Nick Diaz one more time,” said Kawa on The MMA Hour. “I just think that might be enough to get Nick to come out of retirement, who knows?”
Their first encounter was a closely contested bout that saw Condit win and become the UFC’s interim welterweight champion in the process. That was at UFC 142 in February of last year.
Since then, a lot has occurred. Following the fight Diaz was served a one year suspension for his second drug test to return with marijuana. Condit lost a unification fight to Georges St-Pierre and Diaz would then unsuccessfully challenge upon his return.
Condit has back-to-back losses and Diaz says he’s done unless given another title shot with St-Pierre or a middleweight championship one with Anderson Silva.
Both fighters have no future dates announced.
