Masakatsu Ueda is the favorite in the current ONE FC bantamweight grand prix. Following his match with former UFC champion Jens Pulver, Ueda is one win from taking everything.
“I am proud to beat Jens Pulver because he is a legend of a fighter,” said Ueda to MMA Mania. “I felt strong pressure from him during the fight so I tried to get a chance to take him down. On the ground I could make my game so in the final moment I caught the right arm deeply to his neck and from there I believed in my skills to finish.”
The d’arce choke is what forced Pulver to tap. Ueda earned a decision in the opening round. The only person standing in his way is Kevin Belingon.
Belingon took TKO’s over Yusup Saadulaev and Thanh Vu to bring his ONE FC record to 2-2.
Ueda said one of his dreams is to be a champion in the ONE FC and that could happen in about five weeks.
They compete at ONE FC: Rise to Power. It’s May 31 from the SM Mall of Asia Arena out of the Philippines.
