Fabricio Werdum: Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira Is Beyond Great

On The Ultimate Fighter, there have been some interesting coaching matchups. Often the coaches have a passion against the other and can’t wait to enter the Octagon, but Fabricio Werdum didn’t have that experience. He coached opposite Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and left the reality show with more respect for the former PRIDE heavyweight champion.

“I’ve heard people talk about how great a person ‘Minotauro’ is, but over these 50 days, I had the opportunity to get to know him,” said Werdum to Sherdog. “Guys like him just don’t exist. One day, I was backstage suffering with hip pain, and he offered me his physiotherapist. What do you say about a guy like that?”

The friendly nature between the two must briefly pause as they headline UFC on FUEL TV 10 on June 8.

Werdum looks to land in the title picture after defeating Roy Nelson and Mike Russow. Prior to that, he was the first person to submit legend Fedor Emelianenko.

Nogueira submitted Dave Herman in his last fight to be 34-7. Prior to that, Nogueira suffered his first tap out defeat when Frank Mir broke his arm.

The two meet out of Brazil’s Ginásio Paulo Sarasate.
