David Gomez is still enjoying his KOTC championship win from April 11, but will be back in the gym shortly to prepare for his next challenge. The welterweight champion will have a rematch with the same Joshua Alves he just took a split-decision win over.
“We do have a rematch coming up August 29,” said Gomez to MMA Weekly. “We know each other and I know his weaknesses, so it’s going to be a very interesting fight.
The champion continues to learn the sport and is just adapting to the championship rounds. When the two have their rematch, Gomez plans to end this one in two rounds.
Gomez has fought for KOTC exclusively since late 2009 and is 12-3 for them. He was 5-1 last year, ending three fights in round one.
Alves earned three straight wins heading into the contest. He knocked out Johnny Cisneros in nine seconds in December.
No details about the location of the rematch are known.
