Nate Diaz Should Remain At Lightweight, Says UFC Boss

UFC president Dana White often speaks his mind when fighters begin mulling a potential weight change. The latest, Nate Diaz, told reporters last week that he would likely head to welterweight after this past weekend.

Well, Diaz lost to Josh Thomson, but has yet to state definitively if he will be moving from 155 pounds to 170. White, though, doesn’t believe that’s a good idea.

“I think going to 170 is a big mistake,” White said. “(There are) big, strong guys at 170.”

Diaz has gone 9-5 as a 155-pounder inside the Octagon, but is coming off back-to-back defeats. He is a former winner of The Ultimate Fighter, and previously went 2-2 as a welterweight.
