Jorge Masvidal was one of the names to join the UFC once Strikeforce ended operations in January. As a former Strikeforce lightweight contender, Masvidal admitted to having some butterflies in his stomach before the fight. That changed as Masvidal secured a decision win on the preliminary card of UFC on FOX 7.
“I feel great,” said Masvidal to MMA Fighting. “Tim Means is tougher than I expected. I’m glad to get the jitters out of the way. I got the Octagon jitters out of the way. I like it and this is going to be my home for a long time.”
In Strikeforce, Masvidal was 3-1 with the loss being to their eventual final champion Gilbert Melendez. Prior to that, he had a short stint in Bellator.
The win came against Means, whose now 2-1 for the UFC. His wins were over Bernardo Magalhaes and Justin Salas since February 2012.
They fought this past Saturday from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. The bout aired on FX.
