Daniel Cormier made sure to clear the air in regards to any further talk of a future fight with teammate and close friend Cain Velasquez.
Cormier, who defeated Frank Mir in his UFC debut Saturday night, told the post-fight show on FUEL TV that he is still pondering a future move to 205 pounds.
“I’ve been thinking about it a little bit,” he said. “I’ll talk with my management team and figure it out. I just want big fights.”
Cormier, a former Olympian and winner of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix, reiterated that he would like at least one fight at light heavyweight before competing for the title.
As for that bout with Velasquez, he stated, “I’m not gonna fight Cain. That’s pretty clear.”
