Cage Warriors had a single night, four person tournament ready to decide their inaugural flyweight champion. Those plans have changed due to certain fighters falling through, so it’s now Neil Seery vs. Mikael Silander for the belt. It will serve as the co-main event.
“Neil Seery has been the top performer in our flyweight division over the last year or so while Mikael Silander is one of the best in Europe and was already contracted to take part in the tournament,” said Cage Warriors CEO Graham Boylan. “It will definitely make for a fitting fight to crown the first ever Cage Warriors flyweight champion.”
Seery took his last three wins all out of Cage Warriors, stopping Mark Platts and Paul Marin.
Silander makes his debut for the promotion with an 8-1 record. Half of his wins have come via submission.
Cage Warriors 55 is June 1 from The Helix in Ireland. The main card streams live and free at MMA Junkie with the prelims being on Facebook. The card is headlined with welterweight champion Cathal Pendred taking on Che Mills.
