Veteran referee Josh Rosenthal has been absent from the cage as of late, as he has been working to free himself from any future jail time on a marijuana charge.
According to a report from MMAjunkie.com, Rosenthal is set to appear in U.S. District Court on May 17 after federal agents raided a warehouse owned by him and an associate last year and found 1,356 marijuana plants.
Rosenthal has not made any public comments about the matter, and his lawyer has also remained quiet. He entered a guilty plea to conspiracy to manufacture and distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute.
Without a plea, the referee was looking at 10 years to life in prison, a $10 million fine and probation. Government officials are recommending 37 months in jail, fines, probation and random searches.
