Ulysses Gomez showed up in Las Vegas on Monday hoping to secure a spot on the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter. The reality series will feature male and female bantamweights later this year.
Gomez, though, was denied a tryout slot, as he is a veteran of the UFC. The 29-year-old competed twice for the promotion before being released, falling to John Moraga and Phil Harris.
They said I can’t tryout cause I’m a UFC vet but the app doesn’t say anything about it. I think they were afraid of my sexiness.

Current UFC fighter Joe Lauzon replied to the post, writing, “sucks buddy. I thought that might be why they called you. At least you were local already!”
The series will feature Ronda Rousey, the current UFC female bantamweight champion, and Cat Zingano as coaches. It airs in September on FOX Sports 1.
