In a somewhat expected move, UFC heavyweight Gabriel Gonzaga plans to file an appeal with the Nevada Athletic Commission over his recent loss to Travis Browne. The two collided this past weekend at The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale.
Browne earned a first round victory after catching Gonzaga with a series of elbows. While it was difficult to make out live, a few of the elbows appeared to possibly hit “Napao” in the back of the head.
“We appeal to the Nevada State Athletic Commission because we think were the illegal elbows (to the) neck,” Gonzaga’s team told Tatame. “Whenever we had accepted any defeat, but this was illegal. Gonzaga okay, thanks for the support.”
Browne appears to be taking the decision to appeal in stride, as he replied to a post on Twitter by indicating he doesn’t believe the NAC will change the decision.
