Alan Belcher thinks if he can knockout Michael Bisping, then it might lead to a middleweight championship shot. Bisping suffered a recent knockout thanks to a head kick from Vitor Belfort to start the year, but Belcher doesn’t think it counts since the Brazilian uses TRT.
“When someone cheats with substances, like Belfort has done, it doesn’t count as a win,” wrote Belcher to Yahoo! Sports. “Belfort hasn’t proved he can win a big fight without taking steroids or TRT, so I think when I KO Bisping I should get all the recognition for being the first guy to do so since Dan Henderson did at UFC 100.”
At January’s UFC on FX card, Belfort took a second round knockout, which also pushed Bisping out of the title picture. In the post-fight drug test it was revealed that Belfort had a prescription to use TRT.
Belcher was up to four consecutive wins before a decision loss in December.
The top middleweights go at it on UFC 159 from the Prudential Center. That’s April 27 from Newark, NJ.
