Shannon Knapp, the CEO of Invicta FC, believes a future television deal can help push the all-female promotion to even greater heights. For now, though, she will continue to work online with Ustream.
Invicta FC 5 recently set records for Ustream, as Michelle Waterson defeated Jessica Penne for the atomweight title. The card also featured the return of Cris Cyborg, along with Sarah Kaufman.
“We were sandwiched in between Bellator, UFC and ONE FC (the week of Invicta FC 5), and we more than held our own when it came to grabbing the media and coverage,” said Knapp, during a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com. “We’ve done things on the internet that other MMA companies haven’t.”
She added that the promotion “could sustain our business without (a TV deal), but it’s my objective to look for a broadcast partner.”
The next Invicta event is scheduled for this summer. Marloes Coenen and Cyborg will meet for the title.
