UFC president Dana White didn’t shy away from the question when it was presented to him Tuesday regarding Matt Mitrione. Despite Mitrione not being on the upcoming UFC on FOX: Henderson vs. Melendez card, he was still a hot topic of discussion.
Mitrione ripped into transgender fighter Fallon Fox Monday during an interview. The heavyweight, who defeated Phil De Fries over the weekend, has been suspended indefinitely by the promotion.
“First of all, he didn’t need to be doing an interview,” said White, during a conference call. “I am going to talk to these guys. The only time these guys need to be doing interviews is leading up to fights.”
In regards to the actual comments made by “Meathead,” White said, “What was the point of the interview? It just caused a bunch of problems for us and a bunch of problems for him. What was the point of the interview? What was the upside? None.”
Nothing further has been said by Mitrione or his management team concerning the suspension.
