Jamie Varner sports over 20 career victories, including a 4-1 mark in his last five fights. So, who would the ex-WEC champion like to take on next? That would be Diego Sanchez.
“I’ve been a big fan of his,” said Varner, in a recent interview with MMAjunkie.com. “If that fight came up, that would be a great fight for me.”
Varner and Sanchez are both trying to make a move in the UFC’s stacked lightweight division. The 28-year-old has been out of action since a split decision victory over Melvin Guillard last December bumped his record to 21-7-1.
Sanchez, meanwhile, fought this past March in Japan, besting Takanori Gomi. He had trouble making 155 pounds, but plans to stick there for the immediate future.
