Ilir Latifi was willing to cut over 20 pounds in a number of days and step inside the Octagon to face Gegard Mousasi to save the UFC on FUEL TV event in Sweden over the weekend.
And, despite being on the losing end of a decision, Latifi will fight for the promotion again, according to UFC president Dana White.
“Latifi comes in on four days notice, cuts the weight and takes on Gegard Mousasi, who is 33-3,” White said during the post-fight press conference. “He stays in there for three rounds with him – much respect to the guys in the main event.”
White added that he will be competing inside the Octagon again “absolutely.” Latifi, a training partner of Alexander Gustafsson, was very emotional following the fight.
