Melvin Guillard was denied a return to Greg Jackson’s gym in New Mexico, but he isn’t taking any heat with Jackson over the decision.
Guillard, who will return to action later this year against Mac Danzig at UFC on FOX 8, recently talked with ESPN concerning the matter.
It would appear that Jackson left the decision up to the team members, who voted to deny Guillard a chance to train at his old home.
“I don’t want to get into who voted to take me back and who didn’t,” Guillard said. “I did get to talk to coach Greg personally after the fact and he told me, ‘Look, right now we have some guys against it and it’s just not a good time, but that doesn’t mean you can’t come back.'”
As for the assault charges against him, Guillard stated those came about in 2010 when he was “jumped by a general manager and five security guards. My hands never touched anybody.”
“The Young Assassin” added that some fans came over to help get the guards off of him and “that’s as far as I’m going to get into this.”
