It’s been almost 16 months since Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos last competed. At one time, the former Strikeforce featherweight champion was considered the face of WMMA. That quickly changed while she was out with a one year suspension for steroids as Ronda Rousey took the world by storm.
Rousey has since become the first women’s champion in the UFC’s history. She and Santos had teased a potential fight, but neither fighter would budge when it came to changing weight class. The result saw Santos be granted her Zuffa release as she quickly signed with Invicta FC.
It appears Santos still wants the fight with Rousey.
“Ask Dana White if he wants to make the fight,” said Santos to MMA Fighting. “Ask Ronda if she wants the fight. I will fight her. I’m not afraid of anyone. You have to ask them why they don’t want to make the fight.”
Santos returns later today against Fiona Muxlow.
They are on the main card of Invicta FC 5, which comes from the Ameristar Casino Hotel in Kansas City, MO.
