Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira has teammate Antonio “Big Foot” Silva leaving as the UFC heavyweight champion in his rematch with Cain Velasquez. If that does happen, it would be a huge difference from their first fight.
“[Silva] moves better and strikes better than the first fight,” said Nogueira to Sherdog. “I think he needs to watch Cain Velasquez’s takedowns and try to keep this standing. I believe Silva has the power to knock him out.”
Last year, Velasquez’s put Silva on his back early in round one and cut him above the eye. He finished the fight in the opening round to become the No 1 contender. Velasquez has since won the gold for the second time. Silva earned this title shot by knocking Alistair Overeem out in February.
Silva vs. Velasquez headlines UFC 160 on May 25. It’ll be from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
Nogueira returns inside the Octagon at UFC on FUEL TV 10 on June 8. He meets fellow Brazilian Fabricio Werdum from the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate.
