Tom Lawlor’s UFC run has yet to takeoff and it might be too late. If Lawlor doesn’t leave the victor at this weekend’s UFC on FUEL TV 9 card, he knows his days are numbered.
“If I lose this fight, I won’t be fighting in the UFC unless it’s the most exciting fight in the history of man,” said Lawlor to Yahoo! Sports. “And based on my past fight record, that’s probably not going to happen. I pretty much have to walk out with a win to keep my job.”
He will be putting his job on the line against Michael Kuiper. Last year, Kuiper joined the UFC and went 1-1. He comes in off a second round TKO to Jared Hamman.
Lawlor is 4-4 for the promotion. After a pair of defeats in 2010, Lawlor has since traded wins and losses. Francis Carmont handed him a decision defeat in November.
The Ericsson Globe Arena in Sweden will host the card. It’s this Saturday, April 6.
