Benson Henderson makes his return inside the Octagon once again under the FOX banner as he headlines UFC on FOX 8. Being placed on a national TV channel beats competing on a pay-per-view anytime for Henderson
“I don’t give a crap about pay-per-view stuff,” said Henderson to MMA Fighting. “I like fighting on the biggest platform and FOX is that platform. I’m excited to be on FOX for the second time in a row. I think that it shows the trust the UFC top brass and the FOX top brass have in me.”
In his second lightweight championship defense, Henderson defeated Nate Diaz on December’s FOX show. The main event topped 5.7 million viewers and made the champion 18-2. He now fights Diaz’s teammate Gilbert Melendez.
It will be Melendez’s UFC debut as he enters being the final Strikeforce lightweight champion. He defended that belt six times and has a seven fight win streak.
The two headline UFC on FOX 8 from the HP Pavilion. It comes out of San Jose, CA on April 20.
