Georges St-Pierre Likely Retires After Anderson Silva Bout, Says Trainer Firas Zahabi

Georges St-Pierre’s trainer Firas Zahabi thinks a fight with Johny Hendricks will further the current UFC welterweight champion’s time inside the Octagon. If he takes on Anderson Silva that would likely be his final fight, regardless of the outcome felt Zahabi.

“If he fights Hendricks, I think [St. Pierre] could fight for longer,” said Zahabi on Sherdog Radio. “If he fights Anderson Silva, I could really see that being his last fight. He’ll retire after that because there won’t be a bigger fight for him to do. Win or lose, I think he’ll probably end on that note.”

Zahabi has been weary on how much time St-Pierre has left and estimates it could be only a few fights. The champion came back from an ACL injury within the last six months.

Hendricks earned the No. 1 contender status with a decision win over Carlos Condit at UFC 158. He wants his title shot in the summer.

UFC president Dana White has promised repeatedly to put Silva-St-Pierre together.
