Antonio “Big Foot” Silva wasn’t impressed with Alistair Overeem’s showing at UFC 156. He considers the former Strikeforce champion nothing but hype.
“He talks a lot,” said Silva to MMA Weekly. “I think he needs to close his mouth and go to the gym. He loves the media. I don’t know why the media loves him so much, but you win the fight in the cage, not outside [the] cage.”
At UFC 156, Silva took the knockout early in the third round. The win pushed Overeem out of the title picture and Silva is now the No. 1 contender. He takes on Cain Velasquez for the belt in the main event of UFC 160.
In their first encounter, Velasquez secured and quick takedown after busting Silva open. He left with the TKO win.
UFC 160 comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV on May 25. Overeem was to meet former champion Junior dos Santos on the card before he suffered and injury.
