Josh Barnett has been a free agent since he ended negotiations with the UFC, following their absorption of Strikeforce.
Leland LaBarre, Barnett’s manager, told Bleacher Report that the heavyweight is still actively speaking to several promotions, but no deals have been finalized.
There is hope that Barnett will return to action sometime this year. Barnett hasn’t stopped training and is in prime shape as he prepares for his next fight according to LaBarre.
Barnett is a former UFC heavyweight champion and last fought in Strikeforce going 3-1. His only loss came to the undefeated Daniel Cormier.
Barnett’s last fight was a round one submission win over Nandor Guelmino in January, on the final Strikeforce card.
