With a little over four months before Anthony Pettis makes his official drop to featherweight, “Showtime” has the workout planned and it should be simple.
“I got a big weight cut to get ready for,” said Pettis on MMA Interviews. “I’m going to do a pre-weight cut in June to see where I feel and adjust. It’s not going to be a cakewalk, but it’s not going to be a problem. I’ve got a great nutritionist who’ll adjust what I need to adjust.”
In the last two years, Pettis fought only twice due to nagging injuries. He took back-to-back Knockout of the Night honors with wins over Joe Lauzon and Donald Cerrone. Both were ended in the opening round.
Pettis opted to cut to featherweight, instead of waiting for a lightweight title shot. He takes on Jose Aldo in August.
Aldo defeated former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar at UFC 156 to earn his sixth title defense.
They meet on August 3 with a location to be announced.
