Andrei Arlovski caught some unexpected attention in his World Series of Fighting (WSOF) loss to Anthony Johnson. As the fight wore on, Arlovski was apparently sporting UFC gloves.
Due to the size of Arlovski’s hands, none of the gloves their fit him.
“We tried several brands of 3[XL] gloves and none fit [Arlovski’s] big hands so someone got a UFC pair and they fit, and there was no time to get another brand,” a WSOF told MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani.
The gloves were purchased prior to the event and had not been used. The UFC logo was painted over with black, but as the fight continued, it wore off.
WSOF officials plan to have 4XL and 5XL gloves for future shows.
The gloves were approved by the NJSAC. All other fighters on the card wore WSOF labeled gloves.
WSOF 2 was March 23 from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, New Jersey. Johnson took the decision over Arlovski in the main event.
