Reigning UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez sees marijuana use in two different forms. Being from California, it’s frequently used though the champ knows that the athletic commissions consider it illegal.
“It’s a thing of where they draw the line,” said Velasquez to MMA Fighting. “What’s illegal and what’s not as far as a substance.”
Alex Caceres recently joined the list with Matt Riddle for fighters who have been popped for having the metabolic form in their system. They join a growing trend of suspensions.
Velasquez is currently training to fight Antonio “Big Foot” Silva at UFC 160. It will be a rematch from one year ago, when Velasquez won in the first round after busting Silva open and putting him on his back.
That headlines the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. UFC 160 is May 25.
