According to Bloody Elbow’s Brent Brookhouse, Saturday night’s World Series of Fighting 2 event is in danger of being cancelled. The New Jersey Athletic Control Board has yet to approve of the cage to be used, as concerns with the pads and canvas have come up.
WSOF officials are looking to use ring pads from a local promoter, while flying in a new canvas from Las Vegas. The main card airs on NBC Sports Network and features Andrei Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson.
The report states that the main issue of concern is that the canvas will not fit the cage, and would likely lead to the entire event being called off.
Nick Lembo, who is on the New Jersey control board, said that the “cage still needs to gain approval, has not yet. New canvas to be flown in, and new post pads.” He added that the cage would be inspected on Saturday.
