When asked, Mark Hunt was certain that he would defeat Junior dos Santos and hand the former UFC heavyweight champion his first knockout loss.
“I will face one of the best gladiators in Brazil,” said Hunt to TATAME. “As a gladiator in the modern era, I will turn this fight into a war.”
Early in his career, Hunt was riding momentum as he landed a championship shot in PRIDE. After he didn’t win the title, he started a six fight losing streak.
That’s all changed since 2011 as Hunt earned four straight UFC wins, with three ending by knockout. He broke Stefan Struve’s jaw in the FUEL TV show from two weeks ago.
He faces Santos, who has nine UFC wins with five fights not going past the opening round. Santos won the heavyweight title and defended it once, before dropping it back to Cain Velasquez in December.
With a title shot looming for the winner, the two will be ready for war at UFC 160 on May 25. It comes from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV.
