Travis Wiuff Suffered Health Scare When Cutting Weight

Travis Wiuff had some scary moments during his run in Bellator’s Summer Series 2012. When trying to shed the pounds as a light heavyweight, Wiuff’s health became a concern.

“I think I passed out a few times,” said Wiuff. “They had to bring the scale to me and I could barely stand on it. It got pretty ugly. So I do feel like I have unfinished business at 205 [pounds], but I don’t think my body can handle the cut anymore.”

During that tournament run, Wiuff made it to the finals. He lost to Attila Vegh in 25 seconds after getting knocked out in the opening round. Vegh would go on to win the championship.

Wiuff, who is currently 68-16, returns at Bellator 93 against Ryan Martinez. They are set to meet at light heavyweight on the March 21 card out of the Androscoggin Bank Colisée in Lewiston, ME.

Bellator just announced the return of the light heavyweight and heavyweight tournaments for the upcoming Summer Series.
