Danillo Villefort was one of the Strikeforce fighters who didn’t come over when the promotion was absorbed by the UFC. In his return, he takes on Kris McCray for the World Series of Fighting (WSOF).
Villefort has faith that the upstart promotion can succeed.
“They are signing many good guys,” said Villefort to TATAME. “I was lucky to get this and I hope everything is right.”
After losing in his only UFC fight in 2009, Villefort nabbed four in a row before losing in his Strikeforce debut. That came to Nate James in August 2011 and was his last fight to date.
McCray also appeared for the UFC, taking three submission losses in each encounter before being let go. Last year, he went 1-1 taking a win out of Bellator.
They are set for the preliminary card of WSOF 2, from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ. That part of the March 23 card can be seen on Sherdog.com and the main card airs on the NBC Sports Network.
