With his latest win at UFC 158, T.J. Dillashaw thinks he’s closing in on a bantamweight title shot.
“I’m not far at all,” said Dillashaw to MMA Fighting. “I think I’m there. I’ve even tightened my game more that I’ve been traveling around with a lot of coaches. I feel like I’m there and I’m tightening even more.”
The win over Issei Tamura puts Dillashaw at 7-1 with that sole loss coming to former flyweight No. 1 contender John Dodson in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 14. Only two of his career wins were decided by the judges.
Tamura has now lost two in a row since becoming a bantamweight.
UFC 158 came from the Bell Centre in Canada yesterday, March 16.
