As only he can, Nick Diaz commanded the attention of everyone at the post-fight press conference for UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz Saturday night – despite losing in the main event.
Diaz, who was bested by Georges St-Pierre in a bout for the UFC welterweight title, announced his retirement – again – following the loss. Later, though, he changed his stance, saying a rematch with GSP or a fight with Anderson Silva would make him reconsider.
The former Strikeforce champion also let everyone in on a secret that was likely better kept to himsef, as it involves taxes and the federal government.
“I’ve never paid taxes in my life, I’m probably gonna go to jail,” Diaz said. “That’s not because I don’t have, nobody wants to hear about that. Nobody wants to hear about that kind of talk or what’s really going on with me. But I might as well just be a kid.”
He went on to say a vacation could be in order again, as Diaz was suspended for a year in 2012 for failing his post-fight drug test. Last week, he stated that he “should” be able to pass the test this time.
As the press conference wound down, Diaz added, “I could talk shit all day. I’m not finished, I’m not beat up. I fight, you know, the (fifth) round woke me up and I’m ready to fight. That’s just how I feel.”
