George Roop vs. Reuben Duran

We open up action in the bantamweight division, as George Roop (12-9-1) takes on Reuben Duran (8-4-1). Both fighters are coming off defeats, so a win is extremely important here. The referee will be Phillippe Chartier.

Round 1: Roop comes right out, throwing some big kicks at Duran. Less than 20 seconds in and Joe Rogan is talking about adding leg reach to the official stats to compare fighters. Didn’t take him long. Duran catches Roop coming in, landing a nice right. Real solid exchanges so far by both fighters, but Duran appears to have more power behind his strikes. Duran ducks under a strike and lands a power takedown with three minutes to go. Pair of nice elbows get through the defense, as Roop looks for a possible triangle. Duran was listening in on Roop’s corner, as he switched sides to keep him from getting to the cage to wall-walk. Roop know throws a series of elbows from the bottom. Roop firing off more elbows to the top of Duran’s head.

Round 2: Roop does exactly like his corner instructed between rounds, scoring a takedown and quickly going to work on a submission. He’s taken Duran’s back. Roop is unable to get a second hook in and Duran gets out. Roop pulls guard and is unloading with elbows to the head from the ground. Roop works to his feet and starts working the body as the round comes to an end.

Round 3: Duran, right off the bat, scores a takedown, but is unable to keep Roop down and do any damage with it – much like the first two rounds. Roop now has an opening and is taking advantage of it, rocking him with rights to the body and head. Roop gets a double-leg takedown with just under three minutes to go, moving quickly to full guard. Duran has Roop up against the fence, but has yet to do any damage with his striking. Instead, it’s Roop who lands a pair of knees to the body.
