With just hours before Nick Diaz vs. Georges St-Pierre finally goes down, fellow Tristar teammate John Makdessi gave the champion the nod in the title fight.
“Georges has a lot of experience,” said Makdessi to MMA Mania. “He’s been through this many times, so many scenarios. He’s a great ambassador for the sport and he was smiling at the gym and having fun in his training getting through everything.”
St-Pierre will look for his eight title defense, which will break the welterweight record set by UFC hall of famer Matt Hughes. In his way is Diaz, who has provided the champion with plenty of trash talking.
Makdessi will be in action earlier on the show when he meets Daron Cruickshank. UFC 158 comes from the Bell Centre in Canada with a 13 fight card. FightLine will have complete coverage with the play-by-play and post-fight news.
