After a disappointing 0-4 outing for Affliction and Strikeforce in the span of two years, former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski debated retirement. After discussing it with trainer Greg Jackson that all changed, as he advised Arlovski to start from scratch.
Arlovski would take Jackson up on his suggestion and headed to New Mexico to train with champions Jon Jones and Frank Mir.
“Those guys, they’re serious,” said Arlovski to The New York Post. “Nobody is gonna give you rest, even in a sparring session. You have to give everything. I’m very happy about this training camp.”
Arlovski has improved greatly since almost retiring. He’s 4-0-1 as he prepares for his second World Series of Fighting (WSOF) main event this month.
WSOF 2 is headlined with Arlovski vs. Anthony Johnson on March 23. It comes from Revel Casino in Atlantic City, NJ and airs on the NBC Sports Network.
