Antônio “Minotauro” Nogueira faces Fabricio Werdum this summer and the former PRIDE heavyweight champion thinks if he leaves the victor, a chance at UFC gold could be on the horizon.
“I struggle to do my best and if the opportunity arises at the title, I will prepare for it,” said Nogueira to TATAME. “I want to be among the best in the division. Now I face Werdum, who is well placed, and if I win, and I think I will, I have a chance for the title.”
After Frank Mir broke Nogueira’s arm in late 2011, he returned almost a year later with his own submission win over Dave Herman. He’s now 5-3 since he joined the UFC in 2007. Since Werdum returned to the UFC last year, he has taken two wins.
The two are the current coaches for the second season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil. They headline UFC on FUEL TV 10 out of Brazil, which goes down June 8 from the Ginásio Paulo Sarasate.
