UFC president Dana White is in a difficult position after Nick Diaz declined an invitation to show up for open media workouts Wednesday for UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz.
Up until now, outside of missing interviews scheduled by the UFC, Diaz has been at all the necessary media obligations. Last week, Diaz and Georges St-Pierre took over a conference call that left White excited about this week.
That feeling has changed, though, after the no-show by Diaz. His trainer and manager, Cesar Gracie, stated that he asked for the event to be rescheduled after flying to Montreal from California.
“I’m excited for the press conference, and I’m definitely excited for the weigh-ins,” said White, while appearing on the Jim Rome Show. “You never know what you’re going to get. (But) if he does not show up (Thursday) for the press conference, it is not going to be good. I don’t know what I’ll say or what I’m going to do, but I’ll tell you what, it will not be good.”
Diaz was previously removed from a scheduled fight with GSP after missing press events. This is his first fight since a year-long suspension following a failed post-fight drug test.
