While it’s definitely not as big of an issue as missing press events or scheduled interviews, Nick Diaz has decided to not take part in open workouts for UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz.
Cesar Gracie, the manager and trainer for Diaz, posted on Twitter that his fighter wanted to “rest up” after a seven-hour flight from California to Montreal.
“We asked (UFC president Dana White) if we could reschedule open workout,” Gracie wrote. “(Diaz) wants to be at his best for this fight.”
Diaz was previously removed from a planned title match with Georges St-Pierre for failing to show up for scheduled press events. He was called out by White for missing planned interviews, and the UFC boss hinted that he could be taken out of the match again.
So far, Diaz has made the planned media calls. A final press conference is set for Thursday, while weigh-ins take place Friday.
