Rory MacDonald, who was scheduled to compete this Saturday night against Carlos Condit at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz, has re-injured his neck in training. Mike Johnston of SportsNet.ca reported that MacDonald’s return is currently unknown.
“(Rehab) was going good, but then (Tuesday) I kind of hurt it again, so after (Thursday) I’m going to get someone to check it out,” MacDonald said. “I was trying to get back slowly into training and I was just doing technique and I just tweaked it.”
MacDonald personally asked for a rematch with Condit for this card, as the 23-year-old suffered his lone career loss to the former interim UFC welterweight champion.
“Aries” was at open media workouts for the event because he currently lives in Montreal, site of the pay-per-view. He added that a possible fight with Condit could still be in the cards, but said, “we’ll see how (Saturday) works out.”
