As the debate about whether marijuana should be federally legal continues in politics, it has started to affect the UFC. The promotion recently released Matt Riddle for his second drug test to come back positive for marijuana.
Even with a nickname like “The California Kid,” Urijah Faber isn’t a major supporter for it, but is fine with his opponents using it.
“I don’t think it’s a performance-enhancing thing, and for that reason, if my opponent wants to smoke a bunch of weed, that’s great for me,” said Faber on MMA Junkie Radio. “I don’t think it helps at all. Go ahead, guys.”
Faber vs. Scott Jorgensen was named as the replacement main event for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17 Finale. It’s Faber’s return after earning his third UFC win a few weeks back. Jorgensen was 1-2 last year, taking Fight of the Night in his two previous outings.
TUF 17 Finale is on April 13 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV.
