Three years flew by as kickboxing star Remy Bonjasky debated retirement due to an eye injury. He ended up returning last year at GLORY 4 before being eliminated in the quarterfinals of a 16 person tournament. Bonjasky pointed out that there needed to be more rounds.
“That system is built for people that want to get strong in the first two rounds and only have enough energy for the first or maybe the second round,” said Bonjasky to MMA Mania. “I’m a slow starter. In the first round I try to look at what’s happening, observe, and in the middle of the second round I will start working.”
Bonjasky will have to adjust as he returns at GLORY 5 against Tyrone Spong. For Spong, it’s his return to kickboxing after spending the second half of 2012 focusing on his MMA debut. He won that out of the World Series of Fighting.
The duo meets on March 23 from the ExCeL Arena in England.
