Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos Is Saving WMMA

Even though Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos was granted her UFC release and has since inked a deal with Invicta FC, that hasn’t stopped the bickering. The former Strikeforce featherweight champion is adamant that she’s the best female fighter on the planet and UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey knows it.

“I’m not the one that hides behind a weight class that she knows I can’t make,” said Santos to TMZ. “I am the best and do not want to talk about hypotheticals. I fight in Invicta and I’m proud to be helping save women’s MMA.”

Santos has made it clear she can’t make the 10 pound drop to 135 pounds as it isn’t healthy. She will debut for Invicta FC against Ediane Gomes, with the winner getting the next featherweight title shot.

It will be Santos’ first fight in over a year after a suspension for steroids.

Santos vs. Gomes is on April 5 from the Ameristar Casino. The promotion’s fifth installment comes out of Kansas City, MO with the atomweight and flyweight titles being decided on the card.
