Tyrone Spong is certainly busy, juggling a new MMA career and continuing his first passion of kickboxing. While both are combat sports, they are different and Spong has a plan in motion to balance everything.
“I’m going to build up my experience in MMA, and at the same time fight my kickboxing fights and make some good money in my kickboxing fights,” said Spong to MMA Weekly. “That gives me the best of both worlds because at the same time I’m making some good money and I can build up my experience in MMA.”
In his 12 year kickboxing career, Spong is 68-6-1-1 NC. He returns at GLORY 5 to meet Remy Bonjasky. That happens later this month on the 23rd and comes from England. Spong heads in with four straight wins.
This past November, the World Series of Fighting held their inaugural show with Spong making quick work of Travis Bartlett in the opening round. It was Spong’s MMA debut. His next fight isn’t known.
Several kickboxing media outlets have placed Spong in the Top 10 as a heavyweight.
