Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar isn’t just a fighter, he is a fan of MMA. “The Answer” will most definitely be watching this Saturday night when UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz goes down.
Edgar, during an interview with SportsNet’s Joe Ferraro, offered up his take on the main event, which will see UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre face Nick Diaz, a former Strikeforce champion.
“I think they both come in with strong cardio,” Edgar said. “Georges is the superior athlete. I think Nick would want to try and pressure him on his feet, try to avoid takedowns. But, Georges, no one does it better than him on taking people down. He’s got some of the best ground-and-pound, and you will see a lot of that utilized in this fight to get the win.”
Edgar is coming off a loss to UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo. He is currently unscheduled in terms of his next appearance.
