Benson Henderson has labeled fighters who use PEDs as mentally weak and continues to push for more drug-testing to stop the problem.
“I’d be for increased testing,” said Henderson to MMA Fighting. “It keeps the playing field even. It makes it so guys have to do a better job of either hiding it or just not taking it.”
The current UFC lightweight champion was open to taking blood tests and for more random tests to happen. Whatever is out there to search for drugs, Henderson thinks should be used.
UFC president Dana White seems to be on the same page, recently blasting fighters who use TRT and calling for stricter testing. In most cases, fighters are tested right before and after their bout, with selection being random.
Henderson is preparing for his third title defense against Gilbert Melendez. In Henderson’s last fight, he defeated Melendez’s teammate Nate Diaz.
The championship headlines UFC on FOX 7 from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. It occurs on April 20.
