Mike Ricci’s UFC Return Came Early

Mike Ricci almost won The Ultimate Fighter 16, before dropping a decision loss to Colton Smith in December. When Ricci learned the UFC was headed to Canada, he couldn’t resist in looking for another fight as he’ll have obvious home field advantage against Colin Fletcher.

“I took a few weeks off after the fight, and honestly, I probably would have taken some more time off if I wasn’t offered a hometown fight,” said Ricci to MMA Fighting. “I’m glad to have the chance to get right back into things. I didn’t hesitate to take the fight when it was offered.”

Their fight will be in Montreal as Ricci looks to earn his first UFC win. Fletcher will also attempt his first win inside the Octagon after losing in December as well. Before that, Fletcher had a pair of wins for BAMMA.

They fight at UFC 158 from the Bell Centre. It will be on March 16 and is headlined with Georges St-Pierre defending his welterweight championship to the returning Nick Diaz.
