Martin Kampmann was knocked from the top-level in terms of UFC welterweight title contenders when he was defeated by Johny Hendricks last year.
Now, “The Hitman” is looking to get back inside the Octagon later this year, and he is taking it upon himself to seek out an opponent.
“No fights lined up yet, but I would like to get one this summer against Strikeforce champ (Tarec) Saffiedine or (Nick) Diaz after GSP beats him up,” Kampmann posted on Twitter Sunday evening. “If Diaz pulls it off I will be happy to fight GSP as well, I would actually prefer that.”
Georges St-Pierre will put his title on the line this Saturday against Diaz at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz. Saffiedine has yet to compete in the UFC, as he won the Strikeforce title from Nate Marquardt this past January.
The 30-year-old Kampmann is 20-6 in his career, and 5-3 in his last eight fights overall.
