Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal’s Loss No Fluke, Says Emanuel Newton

Emanuel Newton’s knockout over Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal had nothing to do with luck and was more about skill, says the “The Hardcore Kid.”

“I wasn’t expecting to knock him out that fast, let alone in the first round,” said Newton on MMA Prime. “It was a huge win for me. It wasn’t a fluke. I was the more complete fighter that night and it showed. I’m going to keep getting better.”

Before Newton landed with a spinning back fist that knockout Lawal for the first time, he felt he controlled the fight as he landed more strikes during their one round fight.

The win landed Newton in the finals of the Season 8 light heavyweight tournament. He takes on Mikhail Zayats, who stopped both opponents in round one to advance.

The tournament concludes at Bellator 94 from the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, FL. The fight is scheduled for the main card and can be seen on Spike TV.
