Geronimo dos Santos’ dreams of making it into the UFC ended when he had to withdraw from his scheduled bout when pre-fight examinations showed he had hepatitis B.
After undergoing treatment, he was cleared in preliminary tests and is now close to making his debut for the UFC again.
“I cannot wait to take a second test to confirm it and finally have this opportunity,” said Santos to Sherdog. “I´m so anxious to fight against the best in UFC.”
Hepatitis B, unlike chronic hepatitis, can be eliminated from the system permanently with proper treatment.
Santos will take a second test and send the results to athletic commissions as he seeks to be released as a fighter.
He is currently 34-14 and rides 12 wins, most of which ended in round one.
